A great piece for recitals and duo competitions, this piece has a driving rhythmic feel throughout the piece, supplied by the 4 mallet marimba part (low A). The alto sax rips scathing runs between sexy, velvety, incongruous melodic motifs in C phrygian. The two consecutive contrasting sections layout a modulation and stylistic departures while continuing the relentless forward momentum established in the opening section. A return to the opening section concludes the piece.
