The original compositions on “Global Impressions“, performed by world fusion steelpan group Callaloo, are a blend of musical styles ranging from Afro-Cuban to Middle Eastern, and many more.  The melodies, set over rhythmic grooves in these styles, are at times easy to sing along with and other times complex, but always engaging.  Each of the six members contribute to the group‘s overall sound by having a chance to improvise on nearly every song on the album.
 
You’ll hear these compositions performed on steelpan, marimba, classical guitar, bass, a wide array of percussion, and drumset, which, which when mixed together, are the perfect world fusion vehicle and deliver a powerful musical experience.  
Their name, Callaloo, means many things mixed together!
